Michael Jacobs

2022 – Present: Postdoctoral Research Associate, ORNL

2022, Ph.D. Chemistry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA

2015, B.S. Mathematics, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

E-mail: mjacobs9@email.unc.edu

Michael received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at the University of Connecticut, where he studied real and functional analysis. He then commenced his research career under the supervision of Dr. Dobrynin at the University of Akron in the Department of Polymer Science, and subsequently transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Michael uses theoretical physics and molecular dynamics simulations to study the nonlinear elastic modulus of dry and swollen graft polymer networks. In his free time, he solves Rubik’s cubes and plays chess.
